〜させられる

Conjugation:

be made to do

Being made to do something, usually something you did not want to do: "was made to…".

Conjugation rules

  • Start from the causative and replace る with られる: 食(た)べさせる becomes 食(た)べさせられる.
  • godan verbs usually take a shorter form: change the last う-sound to its あ-sound and add される, so 書(か)く becomes 書(か)かされる. The long form 書(か)かせられる is also correct.
  • Godan verbs ending in す keep the long form, because the short one would stack two さ: 話(はな)す becomes 話(はな)させられる.
  • The person who made you do it is marked with に.
