尊敬語
JLPT N3:special honorific verbs
Special verbs that replace ordinary ones to show respect for the person doing the action: いらっしゃる for 行く, 召し上がる for 食べる, and so on.
How to form it
- Use them only for the actions of someone you respect, such as a customer, a teacher or your boss — never for yourself.
- They replace the whole verb: 先生が来る becomes 先生がいらっしゃる.
- いらっしゃる, おっしゃる, なさる and くださる take い before ます: いらっしゃいます, not いらっしゃります. See the ます form.
