JLPT N2:

just because

Rejects an unjustified conclusion drawn from a reason: “just because X does not mean Y”.

How to form it

  • The following clause normally contains a negative, limitation or warning; it denies that X is enough to prove Y.

Examples

Just because it is cheap does not mean you should buy things you do not need.

Living in Japan a long time does not necessarily mean one's Japanese is perfect.

Common mistakes

  • Using it as ordinary causal から.
  • Following it with an unqualified positive consequence.
