〜がほしい
JLPT N5:want (something)
Says the speaker wants a thing: "I want X".
How to form it
- Mark the thing with が and add ほしい: 新しいパソコンがほしい (I want a new computer).
- ほしい is an い-adjective: ほしいです, ほしくない, ほしかった.
- It is also written in kanji: 欲しい.
Examples

Notes
- Like 〜たい, it states the speaker's own wish. For someone else, use ほしがっている or ほしいと言っていた.
- Offering something to a guest with ほしいですか sounds too direct. Say いかがですか.
