〜ても
JLPT N4:even if
"Even if X" or "even though X": the result does not change.
How to form it
- Put the word in its て-form and add も: 降っても, 高くても.
- Nouns and な-adjectives take でも: 雨でも, 静かでも.
- With a question word or いくら it means "no matter…": いくら食べても (no matter how much I eat), 何を言っても (whatever I say).
Examples
雨が降っても、サッカーをします。
Even if it rains, we'll play football.
いくら食べても、太らない。
No matter how much I eat, I don't put on weight.
Notes
- たとえ at the start stresses the "even if": たとえ雨が降っても.
- The casual version is 〜たって / 〜だって.
- In an invitation, Nでも can offer one possible option instead of meaning "even if". See suggestion Nでも.

The same meaning in casual speech.
