The past of い-adjectives: "was X".

How to form it

  • Replace the final い with かった: 寒(さむ)い becomes 寒(さむ)かった. いい becomes よかった.
  • To be polite, add です: 寒(さむ)かったです.
  • The past negative is くなかった: 寒(さむ)くなかった.
