〜た

Conjugation:

plain past

The plain (casual) past: "did" for verbs and "was" for adjectives and nouns. It is also the base of patterns such as 〜たら and 〜たことがある.

Conjugation rules

  • Verbs make the た-form exactly like the て-form, with た in place of て and だ in place of で: 食(た)べて becomes 食(た)べた, and 飲(の)んで becomes 飲(の)んだ.
  • い-adjectives replace the final い with かった. いい becomes よかった.
  • な-adjectives and nouns add だった.
