〜によると
JLPT N4:according to
Names the source of information you are passing on: "according to…".
How to form it
- Put によると after the source: ニュースによると (according to the news).
- End the sentence with a word that shows it is reported, such as そうだ or らしい: 天気予報によると、明日は雨だそうです.
- によれば means the same.
Examples
天気予報によると、明日は雨だそうです。
According to the forecast, it's going to rain tomorrow.
ニュースによると、事故があったらしい。
According to the news, there's been an accident.
Common mistakes
- Ending the sentence as a plain statement of fact. Add そうだ or らしい.
